We are often asked why we named our company Berkshire Products. So, for the curious, here's the explanation.
Our original thought was to come up with a name that would represent what our company is all about; thus the name, Advanced Innovative High Technology Multi-Media Micro Computer Peripheral Specialists Company, Incorporated. However, upon checking the local yellow pages we discovered the name had already been taken!
So, we went to Plan B: Use a name that has nothing to do with computers. Our beloved founder and owner is a nut for trains, especially steam locomotives. His all-time favorite steam locomotive appeared near the end of the steam era (1940s to 1950s). It was a super-powered steam engine with a wheel arrangement of 2-8-4 and was first used by railroads in the New England area where the Berkshire Mountains are located. This 2-8-4 wheel arrangement was named the Berkshire type.
