Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ``Linux has just crashed''. Thankfully, that phrase is rarely heard.

I can see it now, overtaking a tractor-trailer combo, and the car has a GPF, causing diesel to be pumped at a slower rate, causing you to smack into an oncoming vehicle, only to be comforted by the thought that a patch is available on microsoft.com.

I wouldn't trust it just yet. If all cars were connected to a central server via a wireless LAN, then a driver's moves could be relayed to all vehicles in the vicinity, allowing their computers to compensate for your driving. Now that would be cool, overtaking on a corner and knowing that there will be nothing ahead coming towards you, because you've already pinged the motorway and got a null response. You could even send broadcast messages across Route 66 (get outta my way).
When the NT model comes out, I'm giving up driving and moving to a cabin way, way back in the woods.

Linux isn't yet 16, yet it can drive cars! Linux is the operating system used to guide these fully automated automobiles through everyday roads.

ARGO is an autonomous car that's in development. And, guess what they're using to control the thing? From the Technical Data: ``PC Pentium MMX, 200MHz, 32MB RAM, Linux operating system''. Imagine a bumper sticker reading ``Powered by Linux''.
